Question:

Today, 68% of Black Americans live within how many miles of a coal-fired power plant?

Answer: 30 miles

The historic practice of redlining pushed many Black communities to live in areas close to urban highways, landfills, and power plants. That puts them at higher risk of health effects from pollution and climate change.

That’s just one of the reasons that energy justice has to be part of the renewable future.

Share your support for a just energy future:

Our energy systems have neglected our planet and our people—esp. Black & Brown communities.

By supporting renewables, my power bill is one of the tools I’m using to demand better systems.
